This film wrapping machine is based on a cold packaging system
A few weeks ago at the LIGNA fair in Hannover, CMB presented some innovations that we have recently incorporated to the film wrapping machine that belongs to the COOLPACK series and specifically to our model COOLPACK-150.
This packaging machine uses a cold system, which means that it does not need the application of any heat source to achieve a quality result capable of protecting the products.
As the application of heat is not necessary to achieve an optimum packaging result, the energy used in the packaging process is optimised, making packaging with one of the COOLPACK Series machines more economical than other packaging systems using heat application with shrink tunnels.
The COOLPACK series uses fully recyclable packaging materials
Without any doubt, one of the main concerns of those customers who visited us at LIGNA was that they were betting on sustainable packaging solutions. At CMB we have been working in this direction for many years, so this was not a problem for us.
In fact, the film wrappers of the COOLPACK series only use 100% recyclable and recycled packaging materials. The polyethylene bubble film that protects the product with a first layer and the polyethylene stretch film that holds it and forms the outer layer are completely recyclable.
Not only that, but the COOLPACK Series machines have already been designed with the aim of providing efficient packaging by minimising the film used in the process, so that waste is kept to a minimum, as well as optimising the energy consumption required for their operation.
New in the COOLPACK-150-EXPRESS series: we are incorporating a super geared crown to the film wrapping machine
After several years of work, CMB-Barberán has achieved what seemed impossible some time ago: the slewing ring in charge of applying the stretchable polyethylene film around the product is no longer a belt-driven slewing ring with a smooth contour, but a large, extremely reliable and low-maintenance toothed super-crown.
And what does the addition of the SC-Super Crown or SC-Super Crown mean? Quite simply: this state-of-the-art slewing ring gear enables higher performance, greater efficiency, higher precision and requires minimal maintenance.
Without any doubt, this improvement makes the COOLPACK-150-EXPRESS an even more competitive film wrapping machine, capable of meeting the highest expectations.
This girth gear also allowed us to optimise the throughput capacity of the product to be wrapped, so that the flow of work when wrapping with the COOLPACK-150-EXPRESS is now much greater, which is extremely important, increasing the performance and work capacity of each of our models.
Easier, more intuitive operation and remote control on the COOLPACK-150-EXPRESS model
There are a couple of other modifications that we have applied to the COOLPACK-150-EXPRESS film wrapping machine and that we present at LIGNA. The first of these is the 10″ control screen, which is larger than the one previously installed on this automatic wrapping machine. Thanks to this larger screen, it is more intuitive and simple to use, making it easier than ever to carry out precise manoeuvres.
The new COOLPACK-150-EXPRESS also has an advanced remote control system that allows you to modify manoeuvres remotely or even resolve faults in real time without having to be present.

If you are not familiar with CMB’s packaging machinery, you should know that each of our models of cold packaging machinery and heated packaging machinery can be adapted to 30% of the customer’s needs. What does this mean? It means that each machine prototype has certain features that can be adjusted to ensure that the machine meets 100% of the customer’s needs. We can adjust the length of the transport table, the height at which the crown is positioned, the height of the machine legs, and so on.
